People with a strong sense of gratitude, love and appreciation don’t necessarily have more than others; they aren’t “luckier”. They simply recognize and see more beauty in their lives. People who count their blessings are generally happier and healthier than people who don’t. If you ever feel as if anything in your life isn’t “enough”, try practicing an attitude of thankfulness. You might realize how good you have it, after all.

When I make a card, I realize the beauty I have when feeling my papers and ink between my fingers, the sound of the blades precisely cutting my papers, all my senses are working in tandem. My mind continues to work. I will continue to inspire, create and share with you.

sneak-peek-novemberHere are the cards for November. They are colorful. Using some un-traditional colors, some new and old stamp sets, embossing powders, new papers and as well as ribbons and threads.

Also in use will be beautiful acetate papers.

Not enough to peek your fancy, come for Part 2 on December 3. You can actually sign up for both classes at the same time.sneak-peek-decemberSpotlight on Stamps Sets!

Bokeh and Pop of Paradise

One of my favorite new items from the catalog was the Large Pineapple and the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set. It took me a while to pop of paradisewarm up to both sets but they are a lot of fun to work with , especially with the summer fun that is ahead. who knew that Flamingos could be such a draw!

While designing all kinds of cards, getting ready for my launch, I felt that these stamps could be conducive to creating the bokeh effect.

Bokeh is a technique in photography that describes the appearance of blurry lights in an unfocused photo.  You see this technique used with city streets at night and Christmas trees around the holidays.  Whether these spots look like lights, they sure are pretty.

Bokeh “How To”

1. Wet a piece of Watercolor Paper –Spritz it really well and take some re-inker on an aqua painter.

2. Pick up some ink refill with a wet aqua painter or brush and add it to the water-color paper, one color at a time allowing it to spread and pool. It was fun to see the pinks separate into yellow and orange tones. . Be sure to clean your aqua painter each time you add ink.

3. Once your background looks ok, let it dry thoroughly or dry with heat tool.

4. Punch various size circles in a piece of Window Sheet to use as stencil I used the 3 smallest circles from the Circle Framelits Collection

5. Stencil the various circles with a sponge dauber, sponge circles randomly on top of the sponged card front with Whisper White Craft Ink – random circles in varying depths – some with more white than others. They are going to get messy, but that’s A-OK.  You can dry the circles by patting them with a paper towel or with a heat gun .

6. Go back over some of the circles again with White Craft ink and make them darker. Let dry or dry with heat tool

7. Stamp sentiment and finish layering your card.

8. Using the Bow maker Punch cut 2 times .

Bokeh in paradise9. Use a bone folder to curl and break up the paper fibers. To assemble, use glue dots on the ends of the curled bow pieces and fold them together.

10 Break up the fiber in the small middle piece with a bone folder. And adhere the bow ends to themselves.

11. Put another glue dot and fold around the middle. Put glue Dots on the bow ends and adhere to bow.

Using Fringe Scissors, cut each of the cardstock strips almost to the top.
