Be My Valentine Flip Top Boxes

Be My Valentine Flip Top Boxes are so easy to make and give a great impression to the recipient of your gift.valentine flip top boxes

Flip Top Box directions found at Stamping with Amore

Directions for this cute box is as follows:

Take a 3” x 11 ½” cardstock. On 11 ½ side score at ½”, 3 ¼”, 6” and 8 ¾”. Turn to short side and score at 1 ½”

Crease all score marks very well. On the side that has the small rectangles, you will need to cut 1 off up to the 1 ½” mark, then, cut up each remaining score marks to make bottom of box.

On the small remaining rectangle place score tape to make it into the box shape. Place score tape on two of the bottom flaps to make box bottom. Place 3 strips of score tape across the bottom and in the middle strip place a piece of ribbon. Very gently place the box in the center of the top cover bottom then bring top up and tie ribbon to hold box shut.

The top will be made with a strip of cardstock 7 ¾” x 3 1/4” scored at 3 1/8” and 4 5/8” , cover this piece with a designer paper cut at 7 ½” x 3”, scored at 3” and 4 ½”, glued together. On one end you will take a 3 1/8” square and attach a 6-7” ribbon in the middle and then glue it to the inside of the top cover making sure the ribbon is going away from the paper.

Decorate the box as you see fit. I used a medallions and hearts  and the bow punch to help me out.

All Boxed Up: Making Gusseted Bags that Stand Alone or on a Card!!

Gusseted Bag
For You Gusseted Bag stand on its own for a little treat, gift card etc!

Want a new spin on an old technique? How about making some small gusseted bags that can be used on their own or added to a card . People on the receiving end will be quite surprised to have a different use for their little bags .

This fun project can begin with one piece of the Moonlight Paper Stack that contains 48 , 12 double-sided designed sheets of 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ , acid free lignin paper or from your own DSP paper choice cut in the same dimensions.

Making a gusseted bag  is very simple. Follow these simple directions and embellish to your liking.

Template for Gusseted Bag
Template for Gusseted Bag

How to Make a Gusseted Bag:

Begin with a piece of DSP paper of your choice and cut at 4 1/2″ X 6 1/2″ .

Score on the long side at 1″, 1 1/2 “, 2″ ,4″, 41/4″, 5”. (Hint when a tutorial says long side it means you place the paper with the long side at the top of your scoring board which means the short side is adjacent to the left hand ruler on your board.)

Score the short side at 1″ on one side.(Hint: that becomes part of your closing tab. )

Once every score line is in place, cut up one inch on the ends and leave the middle to apply tape that will eventually close your bag when folded.

The folds are Valley , Mountain, Valley on the left and Valley Mountain, valley on the right. These folds become the gusset. Make your folds and adhere the bag together .

To add a little pazazz , you can use an edge punch to create a decorative edge to the  top of the bag.

You can get a wow card effect when adding a little bag to an actual card.

The New Fry Box Bigz Die, Just Because!

Have you seen the new  Fry Box Bigz Die?  It is the cutest thing going. This little box measures 3″ x 1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ and is good for giving a little treat or even little sayings, a stamp, or sponge  dauber  for future card making.  Here I have added some paper fringe by using the  Fringe Scissors to create a stuffing for the box.

A darling box of many uses.
A darling box of many uses.

I cannot wait to see the surprise on my grandchildren’s faces when I give them something in one of these little boxes. I am also looking ahead to my classes when customers get to “Make Themselves a Favor” as part of the class. The most difficult part is choosing what paper to use. Putting the box together is a snap.  Just adhere the short ends of the box under the long end tabs and you are finished with the box construction. FInd a great sentiment,  I used Just Because from the Many More Stamp Set There ar e 23 stamps to choose from, You will love the mix of greetings and fonts in this fun clear mount set. They are small enough to be an accent piece but large enough to stand on their own.  The sentiment was stamped on the Large Oval Punch, layered on the Scalloped Punch,
