Bendy Fold How To Step by Step
•Cut 2 pieces of cardstock, 5 1⁄2”x 4 1⁄4”. Cut the 2nd piece at 2 1⁄2” making 2 small pieces 5 1⁄2” x 2 1⁄2” and 5 1⁄2” x 1 3⁄4”.
•Score 1⁄2” in from one end of both smaller pieces .
•Make a notch by trimming away 1⁄4” of the end of the cardstock. The notch is about 1/3 of the way down, measuring approx 3/8”.
•Don’t worry too much on the size of the notch, you will make your slit to fit the notch so it’s hard to make a mistake with it at this point!
•On the left hand side of the card, attach the 5 1⁄2” x 2 1⁄2” flap to the back as shown. Measure 4” from the fold to the right hand side of the centre-back piece. Make a light pencil mark and, using the flap as your guide, mark the top and bottom of the notch on the line. Now make a slit between the top and bottom points using a craft knife. I made 2 parallel cuts about 1/16” apart.
•The left hand fold should bend and the notch should fit into the slit to make a perfect arch as shown.
•Take the remaining, narrower piece and do the exact same thing except this time you will be attaching it to the right hand side of the card. You will see again from the picture that I’ve made the notch by cutting away 1⁄4” from the outer edge, leaving a small section to form the notch.
•Attach this piece to the centre-back of your card.
•To make the 2nd slit, you will close the deeper flap across the centre-front of the card.
•Your notches and slits should match up to form a card
•You can move the slits to make a more bowed front, or a slightly flatter front, that’s completely up to you!
Now decorate your card!
