I have used Party Wishes Bundle for  this card. This card is a Bendy Fold  that is a 3D card that stands bended, but easily can be placed in an envelope for mailing.Happy-birthday-Bebdy-card250

Bendy Fold How To Step by Step

•Cut 2 pieces of cardstock, 5 1⁄2”x 4 1⁄4”. Cut the 2nd piece at 2 1⁄2” making 2 small pieces 5 1⁄2” x 2 1⁄2” and 5 1⁄2” x 1 3⁄4”.

•Score 1⁄2” in from one end of both smaller pieces .

•Make a notch by trimming away 1⁄4” of the end of the cardstock.  The notch is about 1/3 of the way down, measuring approx 3/8”.

•Don’t worry too much on the size of the notch, you will make your slit to fit the notch so it’s hard to make a mistake with it at this point!

•On the left hand side of the card, attach the 5 1⁄2” x 2 1⁄2” flap to the back as shown. Measure 4” from the fold to the right hand side of the centre-back piece. Make a light pencil mark and, using the flap as your guide, mark the top and bottom of the notch on the line. Now make a slit between the top and bottom points using a craft knife. I made 2 parallel cuts about 1/16” apart.

•The left hand fold should bend and the notch should fit into the slit to make a perfect arch as shown.

•Take the remaining, narrower piece and do the exact same thing except this time you will be attaching it to the right hand side of the card. You will see again from the picture that I’ve made the notch by cutting away 1⁄4” from the outer edge, leaving a small section to form the notch.

•Attach this piece to the centre-back of your card.

•To make the 2nd slit, you will close the deeper flap across the centre-front of the card.

•Your notches and slits should match up to form a card

•You can move the slits to make a more bowed front, or a slightly flatter front, that’s completely up to you!

Now  decorate your card!

Card in a Box Sneak Peek

How much fun is it to get a card in a box that can fold flat and mailed? Open it up and you get a 3-D free-standing box! Card in a box tea partyNow I have gone overboard since this Card in a Box is for my sweet Grand daughter’s 9th birthday. I am taking her and her mom to High Tea to help her celebrate. As you can see I have used the new bundle, A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set and the Cups and Kettle Framelits. In addition the Have a cCuppa Designer series stack will go a long way when decorating your projects. When you do this card and are not mailing it, you can take the liberty to have a bigger piece coming off the back.card in a box tea 2 I however, wrote a poem especially for the occasion. I will be hand delivering the card at our family birthday dinner, so I did not worry about going past my A2 card borders. You can see from the sample there are all kinds of places to add tea cups, hearts and kettles to make this card extra special. Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo abound here.

Card in a Box How to:

Use an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of card stock. Using the simply Score tool place your  paper in Lanscape position and score at 2″,4″,6″ 8″. Turn the paper to portrait and score at 2 3/4″ .

Cut down to the score line along each of the 4 perpendicular score lines.

Cut in at a slight angle up from the edge of the cardstock to remove the excess above the score line and create a tab.

Cut a pice of cardstock 2 3/4″ x 3″ for inside of box and score 1/2″ from each end. Fold both tabs back.

Cut patterned paper to decorate each panel, as follows:utside back panel – 2.5”x5.”

9 panels (outside only) – 2.75”x1 3/4″”

Cut one 2.5”x6.25” outside back panel from white cardstock.

  1. Center and adhere each panel as indicated above.

    Hint:
Attach the longest decorative panels to the section next to the tab.

Fold the decorated card on the middle  score line, and attach the tab inside with adhesive.

Apply adhesive to the end tabs of the 2 3/4″  strip, and adhere them to the inside of the opened box, aligning it with the top of the opening. Turning both tabs toward the outside front or back of the box will help ensure straight placement.

    Hint:
Close the box in both directions and secure the score lines to ensure that it will lie flat for mailing.

Adhere die cuts, stamped images, and/or other embellishments to the strips and inside front and back of the card. Stick them down lightly at first, as they may need to be repositioned. Inside elements should be placed so that they are not seen when the card is closed.

    Hint:

A 3″ square sticky note is the approximate size of the visible area to be decorated, and can be used as a template to plan the arrangement of the diecuts and other inside elements.

Smaller die cuts can be attached to 3.5″ strips of clear acetate. These will wave slightly when the card is opened.

Embellish the inside front flap if desired.

    Complete the project.

Using the idea of matting in descending order by 1/4″ increments, helps to make the papers and sentiment pop! In case you are not sure  of how to create layers se the cutting guide. proportional matsI now have this handy to take the thinking out of what kind of layers I want to cut. You can cut in order or skip a layer to create more interest in your papers.
